Homeschooling successfully is about community. It’s about being supportive and hopeful, and helping others find their own way. No matter how varied our background, we all homeschool because we want the best we can provide for our kids. We know that the school system wasn’t right for our families, and bravely took action.
You see, when we started Learning Tangent it, was with the dream of building a magazine that wouldn’t celebrate one path over another, or make you feel bashed (or left out) because you’re “not like us.” We know that while we’re all unique individuals, we are also very similar in many ways. It’s those similarities that we’re here to celebrate, so that when we learn of the differences that make life interesting it’s not weird, or scary, or intimidating.
It’s with that dream still burning brightly in our minds that we decided to create this community of individuals, coming together to create something far greater than we could alone. You’ve heard the saying, “No man is an island,” but we would like to modify it to say: “No one can be successful as an island.”
Does this sound interesting? Join us. Help us grow this community into something of which we can all be proud.
Rules? Every community needs rules… we suppose.
- No bashing, belittling, or nasty behavior toward anyone. Once is a warning, twice is a boot.
- Disagree without being disagreeable.
- Be respectful. If you wouldn’t say it to a stranger in real-life, you shouldn’t say it here.
