The entries have been judged, and we have a winner! We also have another surprise for a couple talented kids. The response to the First Annual Homeschool Photography Contest was truly amazing, and both the sponsor and I are impressed with the quality of entries, and skill of each of you.
I would love to hand out blue ribbons to everyone, because each entry had beautiful qualities that are worthy of mention. Candy from Wooden Nickel Photography had an immense job in judging each of the entries, and found it very difficult to choose a single winner for the big prize of a 16×20 gallery wrapped canvas. So, I have decided to add a couple runners-up to give Amazon gift cards to those entrants. It’s not much, but I wanted to do something to recognize at least a couple more homeschoolers and their amazing art.
Candy will be writing up her critiques of a few of each homeschooler’s images so that they can use that information to develop their art, and the critiques will go out in the next couple of weeks.
Without further ado, here are the results:
2nd Runner Up – Rose Kelly and her close up of the locket.
Rose will receive a $15 Amazon gift card.
1st Runner Up -Ryenn Smith and her portrait of Emma.
Ryenn will receive a $25 Amazon gift card.
Grand Prize Winner – Anthony Demari, and his landscape image of water flowing over rocks.
We’ll have a short piece about Anthony in the Spring issue, and his image will be featured on the cover. He’s also receiving a 16×20 canvas print of the image, ready to hang!
I would like to congratulate each and every one of you who entered, and I am so completely impressed with the talent that I see in each of your photography that I sincerely hope to see you all enter the next photography contest, which will center around macro (close up) photography. It will be announced officially with all the rules available to read in the Spring issue in March.
