Submission Agreement

The purpose of this is just so you know that when you submit an article to Learning Tangent Magazine that we are probably going to link to it, quote from it and advertise the magazine using it either in whole or in part. We want people to know about your writing, and others like you. Just understand that this is the purpose of our magazine – to share articles, information, and more in order to improve the ability of homeschoolers to do what we do best.

If your article has been previously published, we most likely will not republish it in the magazine. The printing costs alone are enough to make us hesitate even with a very, very, good article. Good SEO practices also limit our use of previously published articles and information – while Google is a great tool, their search algorithm can punish sites that choose to republish content.

  1. Wow. Would have considered submitting an article for publication and recommended others consider it as well, but not after reading these terms. Essentially, while the owner still owns the piece and can submit it elsewhere (though no FNASR, if submitted here first), there is no guarantee that anything will be done with it and your publication retains rights to the piece to do with it whatever you want, however you want, wherever you want, and whenever you want, in perpetuity. All of those rights given away by the simple act of submission and no compensation. Most writing groups recommend authors be restrictive with the rights to their submissions.

What do you think?
